There are so many different types of holistic/alternative health modalities out there it can be a bit overwhelming to choose. Ultimately you want to pick what works for you, everybody is different and will have different results for a variety of ailments. One such treatment has been around for centuries and I find it incredibly effective. This alternative health method is known as Homeopathic Medicine. Below I will explore what are homeopathic remedies and the origin of homeopathic medicine.
What is Homeopathic Medicine?
Homeopathy was founded by Samuel Hahnemann in the late 1700s in Germany. The concept of homeopathic medicine is a medical philosophy and practice based on the idea that the body has the ability to heal itself. The idea is a controversial one and has received much scrutiny in the early 20th century from the United States and Canada, however, it remains popular in European countries.
Dr. Hahnemann based his conclusions on the “law of similars” he believed that what caused a symptom may also be a way to relieve it. The Dr. then diluted his medicinal substances as he believed that diluting these drugs to smaller and smaller concentrations provided symptom relief and healing, and at the same time reduced side effects. In essence, this is the same concept of vaccines which has led to much controversy.
LiveScience does a great job at describing the whole process of mixing homeopathic medicine which is based on rigorous dilutions and mixing, called successions. The dilution level is printed on the bottle of medicine. A typical homeopathic dilution is 30X, where the X represents 10. So, one part toxin (such as the aforementioned poison ivy) is mixed with 10 parts water or alcohol. The mix is shaken; one part of this mix is added to 10 parts of water or alcohol again; and the whole process is repeated 30 times. (LiveScience, What is Homeopathy?)
Homeopathic is sourced from natural substances that come from plants, minerals, and/or animals.
Here are some examples of homeopathic sourced ingredients:
- Coffea Cruda (Coffee) — used to relieve insomnia
- Capsicum (Hot peppers) — used to treat pain
- Allium (Red Onions) — used to relieve itchy, burning and watery eyes
- Stinging Nettle — great for to relieve burns, arthritis symptoms, and urinary tract infections

Homeopathic medicine can be used for many different types of ailments, there are various kinds that complement each ailment.
The most common ailments homeopathy can treat are:

There are various kinds of supplements and tinctures that are used for homeopathic remedies. It is very important to find good quality brands that are known to be very effective and source out good quality ingredients that are pure and not contaminated with anything. The best brands I recommend for certain conditions are:
Schuessler Tissue Salts
These are great for restoring back minerals into our body that we desperately need. When we lose our minerals in our body our body starts manifesting all sorts of issues, see <<here>> for a complete list of the types of tissue salts and what each one does to help restore the body.
Best For: A-Z of ailments and helps restore lost minerals in the body.
I am a huge fan of UNDA drops especially UNDA by Gemmo drops, this one helps nourish our adrenal glands and bring them back into proper function. With so much going on in the western world it is very easy to overwork your adrenals and hence they become depleted which can lend to serious health issues down the road. I cannot say enough about this product you can read my full review on it <<here>>
Best For: Combating stress, reduce anxiety and adrenal fatigue
There are many different types of UNDA drops and each one has a number assigned to it. It is believed that each number corresponds to an organ or major body part. UNDA drops are very effective form for detoxing.
Best For: A-Z way to nourish the organs and detox the body. For a list of the common UNDA types and how they help the body see this post.
