Homemade Mosquito Spray: DIY with Essential Oils

Summer is here and with the warm weather comes those pesky mosquitoes. Ward them off using only natural ingredients that smell awesome and won’t harm the skin as most commercial sprays contain chemicals such as DEET.  You can make your own Homemade Mosquito Spray: DIY with Essential Oils in 5 easy steps.

Natural Ingredients:

1 .Witch Hazel  | 4 oz.

Witch Hazel extract is an astringent that is made from the witch hazel shrub. It was used by Native American Indians to heal a variety of skin issues. It is known to reduce redness and inflammation.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar | 4 oz.  

Possess a whole whack of benefits, for curing respiratory infections, colds, boosting your immunity, removing warts, breaking up fat stored in the body, reducing cellulite and so much more. ACV is the A-Z of all natural remedies.

3. Essential Oils | 20-40 drops

Essential oils have various uses and there are so many types you can use for different methods. Essential oils must be used cautiously as it is pure and potent. See the types of oils you can use for bug spray:

  • Lemon (A citrusy scent)
  • Eucalyptus  ( An earthy grass scent)
  • Citronella  ( A citrusy lemon smell that comes from lemongrass)
  • Tea Tree Oil ( An earthy scent)
  • Rosemary (Smells like herbs and refreshing)

You can try a combination of these oils and see what smells best for you. I like the Lemon, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary combo!

4. 8 Oz. Bottle

Best bottle to use is a glass 8 oz. bottle. It is best when it is dark colored so it will have longer shelf life.
